Mid Lincolshire Circuit

On Sunday last I was in mid Lincs, sharing in joyful and uplifting praise services for Palm Sunday at Coningsby in the morning and at Horncastle, after a delicious tea, for a packed circuit service in the evening. The Mid Lincs singers sang 'I will sing a song of love' by John Bell, and readings and prayers led by members of the circuit preaching team. Thank you all!

Shetland

The beautiful, bleak, windswept Shetland Islands were the place of my most recent visit. I am pictured aboard my Viking Ship!

The sun shone throughout and showed of the beauty of the islands to perfection

Here is the lovely Methodist church on the Island of Yell. I felt privileged to spend an evening with their Bible study group, meeting in the home of two members, talking and praying together, and sharing our faith.

And I mustn't forget.....

The 3rd Basingstoke Boys Brigade company, 50 years old this year!

The Alternative President and Vice President of Conference

During our visit to the Southampton District the President and I led a circuit service on the Isle of Wight, during which the children were led by the Alternative President and Vice President (see picture!), assisted by the alternative chair of District.

Each church brought forward a symbol to represent their church and speak about its mission. This was very moving to hear. The service was attended by over 400 people from all over the island.

Connecting Disciples

This was a chance to be amongst a large group of committed, energetic, dedicated, spiritual and friendly lay workers. I spent a spell as a lay worker myself some years ago, and it was good to recall that time, as well as seeing how many more important and skilled roles are now being filled by lay people in our church. The worship was inspiring, and we shared in a range of stimulating and thought-provoking workshops. I led a plenary session on the Ministry of the Whole People of God, and a workshop on Understanding Mental Illness.
The whole conference was a great privilege

York Minster 26th Jan 2015

This blog is a little bit out of sequence but I have just got this picture! It was a great thrill for the President and me to represent the Methodist Church at the consecration of the first woman bishop of the Church of England at a grand ceremony at York Minster. A double thrill because Libby Lane is the new Bishop of Stockport - my home town!
You can just see me peeping out from my vantage point behind the Archbishop!
